Traffic stops for police services sometimes result in nothing more than a friendly reminder to drive safely and an invitation for the driver to be on their way. Yesterday, however, a traffic stop by the Estevan Police Service turned into several serious charges, with more possibly on the way.

According to a release from the EPS, police performed a traffic stop in the downtown core area yesterday on a 42-year-old woman from Glen Ewen. As a result of the stop, she is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The woman was released with conditions to appear in Provincial Court in June. She may also be facing charges of driving while impaired by drug, but those charges are pending the results of a blood sample test.

Elsewhere yesterday, police responded to a 2 vehicle collision on King Street. One of the cars had to be towed from the scene. They charged a female youth with driving without due care and attention as a result.
