Around 6:30 a.m., today, emergency crews responded to a head-on collision between two tractor-trailers on Highway 47 approximately 16 kilometers south of Stoughton.

The male driver of the semi headed north lost control of his 18-wheeler and crossed the centre line and collided with the female commuting in her own semi traveling southbound.

Icy road conditions combined with low visibility due to fog is believed to be the root cause of the incident, according to Saskatchewan RCMP.

Both drivers were transported to hospital by ground ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 47 is now reopened to the public.
