In the past twelve months, Kyle Mulligan has been one of the busiest people in the city. Before early fall, everyone knew him as the General Manager of the TS&M Woodlawn Gold Club. It came as a surprise that he was named as the new assistant coach to the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins. We sat down with Kyle to look back on a whirlwind of a year.

His main title, despite having two roles in the community, is the General Manager of the aforementioned golf club. Throughout the season, they hosted various events and received praise for the players that trained there.

His colleague, Amanda Minchin, won the Junior Promoter of the Year from PGA Saskatchewan in October.

"We had a fantastic season. We hosted some great events at our facility this past year. Our Head Professional, Amanda Minchin, received the Canadian Junior Leader Award alongside the one for the province. The course itself

is in great shape and we're looking forward to a really good 2017, especially with the economy slowly picking up again," Kyle shared.

One of the events that they hosted is the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), which saw some of the best youth golfers in Canada here in Estevan. In addition, the Club watched Jayden Dudas be a part of MJT National Championship and winning the Bantam Boys Division was a moment to be proud of.

"The Dave Price Memorial Horse Race was a day that stands out in my mind at the Frametech Classic. There was a lot of people and it was just a neat event to be a part of."

"Every day is different at the golf course. It's always great to see our members and to be a part of what they do at our golf course every day," added Mulligan.

Next year, the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club will play host to the Canadian Future Links Prairie Championship hosted by Golf Canada. As well, they will be moving forward with their High Performance Junior Team and build on their skills in 2017.

Going in to the fall season, Mulligan was named the assistant coach of the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins and has been working with the team since.

"It's a great honour to be working with the team, alongside Chris Lewgood and Aaron Miller, doing the work that we doing with the 23 men we have in the roster."

"I don't see this [year] as a rebuild. I see this as an opportunity for us to win the Championship."

The black and gold are in a good position, as they are second to the Battleford North Stars and leads the Viterra Division over their rival, the Weyburn Red Wings. As for the Canalta Cup, they still have a long haul before they can get close to that.

"The biggest thing for us is attention to detail in our own zone and cutting down on the opportunities for the other teams to score. The other thing that we need to work on is to cut down on the penalty minutes that we take because we do give out a lot of power plays to the other teams.

"As you get in to playoff hockey, you got to eliminate those high scoring chances and you're taking care of your own end first if you want to win,' expressed Mulligan.
