The Estevan Airport will once again play host as an airshow flies into Estevan on September 17, 2017.

"Due to the hard work of the airshow committee, we are able to put on a top notch airshow," explained Airshow co-chair, Greg Hoffart. "Building on the success of last year's airshow, we want to see what we can put together here and we're very excited about the caliber of airshow we're going to bring to our community. It's going to be an event that has something for the whole family. Something for the airplane enthusiast and the average citizen of Estevan. We're very excited about this opportunity."

"These performers are big city airshow type of performers and the fact that we can bring a show like this to our community speaks very highly of our community, the volunteer airshow committee, and of the airport facilities."

Co-chair of the airshow, and Airport Manager, Richard Reetz, also shared that they are tweaking a few things this year.

"We decided to try a new approach and we're going to have six performers. There's going to be some World War II vintage aircraft, some high energy biplane performances as well as well as some acts that have two planes as well as four aircraft preforming together."

"There's going to be a little bit of everything including skydiving. We're looking forward to the community coming out and supporting the airshow and having a really great time."

He adds that the city's support as well as the response from the community after last year's show contributed to the decision to host another.

"We wanted to showcase what Estevan has. One of the many things it has is a great airport, and we wanted to showcase that for people and give them the opportunity to see what else lies outside the city limits."

"We're going to have Brent Handy back and everyone I talked to had rave reviews of him. Yellow Thunder is out of Alberta, they have two Harvards and I'm looking forward to seeing them. As well as formation of four aircraft, the Vanguard Squadron, they're from the Northern US and I'm looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table. It'll be fun and exciting. Every preforming has his own niche, there's no two who are exactly the same."

He adds that the acts were chosen because of they all provide close up excitement.

"When you have a jet performance, it's loud and fast but it's it also just zooms right past you and then you're looking and waiting for them to turn around and come back past the airport. These aircraft are low and slow and they're going to be right over the airport. They're not going to be flying around town, so you're going to want to be up close becuase they will be up close."

There will also be displays including aircraft on the ground for people to look and touch before and during the airshow.
