Another Estevan Bruins team has ended their season after the U18 AA Estevan Apex Bruins lost two games over the weekend.

They dropped both those games to the Saskatoon Riverkings, who won the best of three series with wins on Friday and Sunday.

Estevan did manage to hang in there during the first game but was unable to come back in the second.

Head Coach Ryan Curzon explains just how they did over the weekend.

"Game one in Saskatoon, I thought we played really well. There's always room for improvement, but we kept it close in Saskatoon, with a 3-2 loss. I thought we had a few shining moments up in Saskatoon and then we came down here for game 2 at Affinity Place and had a good start, a good twenty minutes.

"We, in my opinion, dominated their defensive zone for about half that period, and then momentum kinda shifted and they scored the powerplay goal to end the first and then we couldn't recover after that. It was a hard-fought effort, but we just couldn't get that W unfortunately."

After so many games following a long playoff run, Curzon says he's at least glad to have a rest.

"I can speak for myself in saying that it was a long season. I can't imagine what it felt like for the kids. We had a long playoff run and the atmosphere was great in the dressing room for September till now, so no complaints there. I think the boys deserve a rest."

He's also excited for next year, both for the players that are staying and those coming in for their first year.

"I think we have a lot of positives going into next year. We have great second-years that are gonna step up into third-year leadership roles. We have a good crop of 15-year-olds that are going to transition nicely into their second year. I'm excited to see what 15-year-olds show up next year for tryouts."

Curzon thanked the community for supporting the team throughout the regular season and their playoff run.
