Tonight Estevan Motor Speedway will be holding a general meeting, looking at the season ahead of them this year.

That will include conversations with fans, racers, and anyone else who wants the latest updates from the raceway.

With an opening day of May 6, they're already preparing for the starting line for those races.

President Brad Pierson says that so far the Speedway is running steady.

"Things are looking good, it's just an opportunity to get together with our fans, racers, volunteers, whoever's interested in coming by is totally welcomed. We'll review what's up ahead of us, we're scheduled to get going in the next three weeks."

They'll also be looking at sponsorships for the season, along with showing off some of the new improvements to the speedway this year.

One development to be excited about is the fact that more American drivers will be on the track this year.

"What we're most excited about is that this is the first year in essentially four seasons that we'll be able to welcome back our full contingent of US drivers who haven't been able to join us over the past 3 racing seasons. We couldn't be more excited, lots of guys are very interested in Wilston, Minot, those surrounding areas, to race with us at all of our races."

Some of the factors allowing those American drivers back include the expanded port of entry hours and the ending of COVID restrictions.

One cause of concern, however, is the encroaching storm which may upset the current plans.

"We are concerned with the weather we are facing over the next couple of days because it takes a long time, not only for our track to dry out, but for our infield and our parking areas and all the stuff like that. It is still pretty damp out there, so we're hoping this doesn't affect us too bad, but who knows what will happen."
