The Redvers Fire Department is able to develop their skills more often since provincial COVID-19 restrictions have relaxed.

Fire Chief Brad Hutton said they've had a number of sessions in the area.

"We stepped up a lot of training this year as well. We kind of missed a year of training with COVID and all the issues, so this year we did four courses in Redvers. We did ventillation, I had the heavy rescue and Vehicle X courses as well in town here."

The fire department also joined with neighbouring communities, with a lot of people taking Level 1 training and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus training.

The team has also upped their game for dealing with heavy rescues.

"About two years ago we got some new heavy rescue equipment. And then we topped it up this year. We bought the hydrofusion - the last part of the kit - came to us this year. There's about a $13,000 set of jacks to go with the heavy rescue stuff."
